Corinne Babcock (Corie Sue) has been making jewelry since she was a teenager – she even made the Bride’s and Bridesmaid’s necklaces for her wedding! Her main medium is beads, but her newest passion is working with semi-precious stones. She and her husband have become rock hounds so they can find the stones, then bring them home to cut and polish. There are so many ways to use the stones in jewelry, so this has become a favorite medium. She also uses textiles, crocheting, knitting and other methods in her creations. Her favorite aspect of making jewelry with semi-precious stones is that each stone is unique so no two creations are ever the same.
Corie and her husband are both native southern Californians, but with her husband’s career as an Army Chaplain, they have lived many places and are now settled in New Braunfels, Texas. Corie’s job as an Inspection and Analysis Branch Chief with the Army Installation Management Command Child and Youth Services at Fort Sam Houston kept her busy with work and travel so she could not devote much time to her love of making jewelry. However, now that she has retired she is able to devote time to her passion. She established her company, Corie Sue’s Creations, in March, 2019 and has enjoyed doing what she loves. Her favorite challenge is making custom jewelry for a special outfit or occasion.
