about the artist

I've zero excuse for suddenly becoming a painter.

None.

Yet here I am.

Painting.

I blame all of the reasons.

Having moved here with the intent of starting my Graphic Novel,  "Cathemeral City ",  I linger, not lost, yet still absent, forcibly  immersed In the process of unraveling this mysterious urge for creation.

I'm a Poet.

Well at least I've been saying that for ages.

Would it surprise you to know that my pieces were all created in the Flow of poetry?

I myself have very little concept of where my poems, and their more tactile counterparts, are headed. I've found stepping out of my own way to be a phenomenon greatly conducive to creation.

So I'm painting.

I paint Things, not canvas.

I leave canvas for the professionals.

They are, for me,  far too restrictive, those bleached white, regulated rectangles patiently awaiting their Rembrandts.

Poor things.

Instead my works are found furniture, and other jetsam cast aside by students in the wasteful haste we call college.

I lavish each piece with a multitude of layers;

Words, shades of color, pattern breaks and my personal mojo,  flourescents.

Every piece has a chaotic, hidden twin personality only experienced through exploration.

And a black light.

They are luminous, my creations.

The furniture, et. al. I paint has a second mission: each piece is documented so as to recreate it for my Graphic Novel "Cathemeral City."

All of the pieces will be found within its pages.

Every piece is uniquely three things:

Poem, Portrait and Paradigm.

Each piece is lettered with a message, a Poem for me to hide away under the paint, though little hints often find Their way through.

The Portraiture is defined by the shape and function of the piece.

The Paradigm can be easily shifted should one only light it with UV.

Each piece is all of these things.

Each piece is not what it seems.

Welcome to "Cathemeral City ".
