Interested in becoming a showing artist?

This beautiful gallery space accommodates the artworks of San Marcos Art League members. Would you like to be a part of this multi-purpose community gallery space?  Here’s what you need to know:

What are the benefits of joining the gallery?

o   5 days/week of open store hours

o   Discount at Art Squared Arts Market

o   Downtown prime location

o   Ongoing special events

o   Single point of sale

How much per month? 

o   Each showing artist will pay $30/month

o   20% commission on sales to cover administrative expenses

How many hours of my time are required?

o   Each showing artist must commit to a minimum of one docent shift per month

o   Special events at the Gallery may necessitate extended hours of operation

How much space is available to each artist?

o   Each artist is allotted 150 linear inches within which to display their art

How will art be displayed?

o   Hanging 2D art will be displayed using a suspended cable/clip system or wall hangers

o   Sculpture and 3D art will be displayed using pedestals and/or shelving, as appropriate

o   Jewelry and smaller art will be displayed using shelves and cabinets; fine jewelry will be displayed inside glass display cabinets

How do I get accepted?

o   Current Art League members may apply by filling out the online application. Due to space constraints and/or type of medium, not all applicants may be accepted.

o   Showing artists will commit to a minimum of three months in the Gallery

Mediums accepted:

o   2D media (oil, acrylic, mixed media, water media, drawing media, photography, digital art, etc.). Prints acceptable. Hanging art must be ready to hang by wire; no sawtooth hangers.

o   3D media (sculpture, ceramics/pottery, metals, glass, mosaic, fiber/textiles, etc.)

o   Functional Art (artisan soap/candles, jewelry, etc.)

Mediums not accepted: perfume, cosmetics, supplements or healthcare products, smoking apparatus, t-shirts, or other items deemed inappropriate to the gallery setting.
